The Sports Concussion Institute, located in Los Angeles California, will hold its Annual National Summit on Sports Concussion, Health and Safety on April 18th, 2008. The summit is designed to advance and impart current prevention, assessment, diagnostic and treatment research, scientific evidence and education, to clinicians, parents, ATC's, coaches, administrators, and policy advocates related to sports-induced concussion, safety and health. Leading medical experts, organization leaders, and sports regulators from around the nation will present and discuss various issues around these widely discussed topics.

Presentations will include; Biomechanics and the Prevalence of Concussion, Advances in Understanding the Pathobiology of Concussion, Gender and its Relationship to Concussion, The Critical Role of Parents, Advancing Health and Safety Outcomes Among Youth, High School, Collegiate and Elite Athlete Populations, Helmet Standards in Reducing Concussion Morbidity, and many more! Members of the NFL Medical Committee will also be presenting updated information on their current programs and preventative efforts. The daylong event features sessions by noted sports agent Leigh Steinberg and NFL Hall of Fame Legend Warren Moon.

Representatives from the California State Interscholastic Federation, the NCAA, the NFL, and State Boxing Commission will discuss current policies and standards regarding concussion and safety within their organizations. Panel breakout sessions will include topics such as, New Innovative Technologies Surrounding Safety, The Challenges of On-Field Management from an ATC's Perspective, MTBI in Youth and its Effects on Families and Academics, and, Promoting Emotional Health in Youth Athletes.

SCI's National Concussion Summit: "Advances in Sports Health and Safety," will be held on Friday, April 18th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel in Marina del Rey. Cost is $150 per person.

The Sports Concussion Institute has also included an additional event on Saturday April 19th at the Marriot Hotel. The "SCI/Ken Norton Jr. Sports Performance and Coaches Academy" will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ken Norton jr. and other former and current professional athletes, sports performance professionals, and coaches will overview proper on field techniques and strategies, safety prevention and performance, and much more!

Through her practice, Dr. Casey hosts seminars and workshops to support coaches and parents of athletes through her "Boot Camps". Her writings are featured in Parenting Orange County Magazine and throughout multiples sports leagues and training facilities, such as the Mission Viejo Nadadores.

Dr. Casey received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California, and has counseled individuals and families since 1997. She has worked with students and athletic teams at USC, UCLA and Mount Saint Mary's College Counseling Centers before opening The Gold Standard in 2007.
